What time is check-in? When do I need to check in?
The latest check-in times are as follows:
UK-France routes
Dover - Calais/Dunkirk: Check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. In the busy season, passengers are advised to arrive at least 2 hours before departure.
Newhaven - Dieppe: Check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. In the busy season, passengers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before departure.
Jersey routes
Vehicle passengers: The recommended check-in time is 180 minutes before departure. Check-in will close 60 minutes before departure.
Foot passengers: The recommended check-in time is 90 minutes before departure. Check-in will close 40 minutes before departure.
Newcastle-Amsterdam route
Newcastle - Amsterdam: Check in closes 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of 17:00, therefore check in will close promptly at 16:15. All times are local.
Amsterdam - Newcastle: Check in closes 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of 17:30, therefore check in will close promptly at 16:45. All times are local.
Baltic Sea routes
Klaipeda - Karlshamn/Kiel: Check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before departure.
Karlshamn - Klaipeda: Check-in opens 4 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before departure.
Kiel - Klaipeda: Check-in opens 6 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before departure.
Paldiski - Kapellskar: Check-in closes 1 hour before departure.
Kapellskar - Paldiski: Check-in from 06:00 to 08:30 on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Check-in from 16:30 to 20:00 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. All times are local.
Copenhagen-Frederikshavn-Oslo route
Oslo - Frederikshavn - Copenhagen: Check-in opens 2 hours before departure for vehicle passengers and at 09:00 (local time) for foot passengers. Check-in closes 50 minutes before departure for vehicle passengers and 15 minutes before departure for foot passengers.
Frederikshavn - Oslo: Check-in opens at 21:30 and closes at 23:30, all times are local.
Copenhagen - Oslo: Check-in opens 2 hours before departure for vehicle passengers and at 09:00 (local time) for foot passengers. Check-in closes 15 minutes before departure for all passengers.
Please be aware of traffic and high volumes in peak season and allow extra time to check-in.

Can I travel with my pet on a DFDS Seaways crossing?
DFDS Seaways permits passengers to travel with pets (including guide dogs and assistance dogs) on all routes. There are three ways that pets can travel: in a pet-friendly cabin; in a pre-booked kennel, or in your vehicle. The availability of these options depends on the route and whether you will be travelling with a vehicle or as a foot passenger.

Frequently asked questions about travelling with DFDS:
Will I receive a ticket for my DFDS sailing?
You will not receive a ticket for your DFDS sailing because DFDS do not issue tickets. Instead, you can show your confirmation email at the port.
Can I check-in online for my DFDS sailing?
Online check-in is not available if you are travelling with DFDS. Check-in will be completed when you arrive at the port.
Do I need to complete Advance Passenger Information for DFDS?
Advanced Passenger Information data for DFDS will now be completed at the port during check-in when passports are scanned.
Can I add car parking to my DFDS booking?
Car parking is available at most of the ports where DFDS operates. You can add car parking to your DFDS booking if you are travelling from Amsterdam/IJmuiden by contacting us and clicking 'Talk to a person 👤'. If you are travelling from a different port, you can view the parking facilities and further instructions on the DFDS website.
