This article will outline the guidelines for entry into Tunisia for the following passenger groups; French adults, French-Tunisian adults, French children, and French-Tunisian children. If you have any queries regarding the guidelines you should consult the travel advice website here.

Guidelines for passengers with French nationality

Adults whose duration of stay is less than or equal to 3 months

  • You must have a valid passport covering at least 3 months after your arrival in Tunisia. For example: if you enter Tunisia on 2 January 2025, your passport must be valid at least until 3 April 2025.

  • A visa (of any kind) is not required even if you are going on a business trip.

  • For an organised trip, it is also necessary to have a valid passport covering at least 3 months after your arrival in Tunisia, accompanied by the travel book issued by the agency.

Adults whose duration of stay is more than 3 months

  • You must have a visa and a residence permit. The request is made to the Ministry of the Interior of Tunisia.

Children travelling with both parents

  • The child and their parents must each have a valid passport covering at least 3 months after their arrival in Tunisia.

Children travelling with one of their parents

  • The child and their parents (father or mother) must each have a valid passport covering at least 3 months after their entry into Tunisian territory.

  • It is recommended to take a document proving your filiation (family relationship with the parents): the birth certificate (extract of the certificate with filiation or full copy) or the family record book.

Children travelling alone or with another person

  • The child must have the following documents with them:

    • Valid passport covering at least 3 months after his arrival in Tunisia.

    • Authorization to leave France.

Guidelines for passengers with French-Tunisian nationality

Adults

  • You must present the following documents:

    • Valid Tunisian passport upon entry into Tunisia and upon exit from Tunisia.

    • Valid French passport covering at least 3 months after your arrival in Tunisia, during police formalities upon exit from France and upon return to France.

Children travelling with both parents

  • The child and their parents must present the following documents:

    • Valid Tunisian passport upon entry into Tunisia and upon exit from Tunisia.

    • Valid passport covering at least 3 months after arrival in Tunisia, during police formalities upon exit from France and upon return to France.

Children travelling with their mother

Mother has Tunisian nationality and father is Tunisian:

  • The child and their mother must present the following documents:

    • Valid Tunisian passport on entry into and exit from Tunisia.

    • Valid passport covering at least 3 months after their arrival in Tunisia, during the police formalities on leaving France as well as on their return to France.

Mother has French nationality and the father is Tunisian:

  • The child and their mother must present the following documents:

    • Valid Tunisian passport on entry into and exit from Tunisia.

    • Valid passport covering at least 3 months after their arrival in Tunisia, during the police formalities on leaving France as well as on their return to France.

It is strongly recommended that the mother also have an authorization to leave the Tunisian national territory, issued by the father, before the consular authority in France. If the father lives in Tunisia, the application can be made on the spot to a municipality.

Children travelling alone or with another person

  • If the child is travelling with another person or a family member (brother, sister, grandparent), he or she must present the following documents:

    • Valid Tunisian passport on entry into and exit from Tunisia.

    • Valid passport covering at least 3 months after your arrival in Tunisia, during the police formalities on leaving France as well as on your return to France.

It is strongly recommended that the person accompanying the child also have an authorization to leave the Tunisian national territory, issued by the father, before the consular authority in France. If the father lives in Tunisia, the application can be made on the spot to a municipality.

Guidelines for other European passengers

All other European passengers must present a valid passport covering at least 3 months after their arrival in Tunisia. National identity cards will not be accepted.
