Where can I find the details of my travel insurance policy?

You will be sent policy details via email if you purchase travel insurance with your booking. If you have mislaid your details you should contact Allianz Global Assistance directly to request another copy.

How can I make changes to my travel insurance policy?### Division of Responsibilities: AFerry vs. the Insurer While AFerry facilitates booking changes, the insurance-related matters are typically handled directly by the insurer. For example:

  • AFerry processes your booking changes, but if additional costs arise and are covered by your policy, you must submit a claim to Allianz Global Assistance (or the relevant insurer) for reimbursement.

  • Use the insurance reference number provided in your booking confirmation to ensure a smooth claims process.

Will you update my travel insurance policy if I change my booking?### Submission Timing for Modifications Booking modification requests submitted outside of AFerry’s office hours may face delays, as the request will only be handled the next business day. To avoid complications:

  • Submit modification requests at least 24–48 hours before your departure. This ensures that your request aligns with working hours and allows adequate processing time.

  • Insurance coverage generally will not retroactively apply if the request timing breaches policy terms.

If you make changes to your booking then you will need to contact Allianz Global Assistance to inform them of the changes and ensure that your travel insurance policy is updated.

Can I add travel insurance to an existing booking?

Travel insurance must be purchased at the same time as your booking. We are unable to add travel insurance after your booking is already confirmed. However, you may still be able to take out travel insurance directly with a provider.

Can I get a refund for my booking if I have travel insurance?### Understanding Policy Coverage and Limitations Travel insurance policies such as those offered in partnership with AFerry generally provide coverage for cancellations but might not include every type of booking modification. It’s crucial to:

  • Review the Policy Details: Before assuming coverage, carefully read your insurance policy documents to understand what is included. Most policies clearly differentiate between cancellation and modification coverages.

  • Recognize Policy Limitations: For example, a policy might explicitly cover cancellations due to specific circumstances but require additional charges for modifications that fall outside these terms.
