What is an ETA?

An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) allows you to the travel to the UK for up to six months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business, or short-term study. An ETA does not guarantee entry to the UK, it is permission to travel to the UK.

Do I need an ETA?

We would like to inform you that the UK Government’s new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirement will come into effect on 25th February 2026.

An ETA will be mandatory for ALL travellers who do not hold a UK or Irish passport, including many nationalities previously able to enter the UK without pre-travel authorisation (Travellers who hold a valid UK entry visa are exempt from the ETA requirement).. Do I still need an ETA if I am travelling with my family or a group?

You will still need an ETA if you are travelling with your family or a group. Each person travelling will need an ETA, including babies and children.

How do I apply for an ETA?

You can apply for an ETA using the UK ETA app or online. To find out more about the application process and apply online, visit the UK Government website here.

What happens if I don't have an ETA?

Travellers without a valid ETA will not be permitted to board on the day of travel and will be prompted to purchase a new ticket for travel on an alternative date. Please note that the cost of the original ticket will not be refunded.
