ETIAS is an upcoming visa-waiver program for non-EU travellers visiting the Schengen Area from visa-exempt countries.

ETIAS is expected to launch between October and December 2026.

EES is an automated IT system which will collect biometric data of travellers from non-EU countries each time they enter and exit the Schengen Area.

EES is expected to launch in October 2025 and be fully functional at all EU borders by April 2026.
