How do I enter Advanced Passenger Information (API) for my booking?

Some of our ferry partners now, by law, require Advanced Passenger Information (API). This information must be entered online before you travel otherwise you may be refused to board.

Do I need to submit Advanced Passenger Information (API)?

If you are travelling with one of the following ferry partners, certain API submission methods are required. Please refer to individual partner guidelines for specifics about online or at-port submission options:

  • Brittany Ferries (online or at-port submission options available)

  • Eurotunnel Le Shuttle (online or at-port submission options available)

  • P&O Ferries (online or at-port submission options available)

For DFDS bookings, Advanced Passenger Information (API) is collected during the check-in process directly at the port. You do not need to fill out API information online prior to your trip.

How to submit Advanced Passenger Information (API)

  1. Gather the following information and documents:

  2. Your ferry partner booking reference number

  3. Passport or other eligible travel documents for all passengers on your booking

  4. Load the relevant Advanced Passenger Information (API) form using the following links:

  5. Log in to the Advanced Passenger Information (API) form using the ferry partner booking reference number and the surname of the lead passenger.

  6. Enter the required information for each passenger (including full name, document number, nationality, document country of issue, document expiry date, date of birth, place of birth).

  7. Carefully review the information before you submit it.6. Ensure you are using the ferry partner booking reference number, not the AFerry booking reference number, to avoid errors during submission.11. For Eurotunnel, ensure you are using the password or partner code provided in your email confirmation as these are case-sensitive and essential for successful submission.

How do I know if my Advanced Passenger Information (API) has been submitted?

Once you have submitted your API you should receive on-screen confirmation to say it has been successful. You can check the status of your API by repeating the process or contacting us and clicking ask 'Talk to a person 👤' to connect with an agent.

Do I need to resubmit Advanced Passenger Information (API)?

You will only need to resubmit Advanced Passenger Information (API) if:

  • You have a return booking and you are travelling with a different ferry partner for your return journey. For example, if you are travelling out with Eurotunnel Le Shuttle and back with P&O Ferries, you will need to submit Advanced Passenger Information (API) to both.

  • You have added a new passenger to your booking. For example, if you submit Advanced Passenger Information (API) and then add another passenger to your booking, you will need to log in to the API form again to submit the information for the new passenger.

I made a mistake when submitting Advanced Passenger Information (API), can I correct the details?

Please contact us and ask 'Talk to a person 👤' to connect with an agent if you have made a mistake when submitting Advanced Passenger Information (API). The agent will contact the ferry partner to correct your details.

Why are my details not recognised by the Advanced Passenger Information (API) form?

If your details aren't recognised by the Advanced Passenger Information (API) form, you may be using the wrong details. You should double-check the following:

  • Ensure you are using your ferry partner booking reference number and not your AFerry/Ferrysavers booking reference number.

  • Ensure there are no spelling errors in your surname. If your surname has special characters, such as "ä" or "ö", try entering the characters without the mark ("a" or "o").- Check if you have received an email from your ferry partner containing a specific link for API submission. Use that link to complete the process, as it may resolve submission issues.- If your online submission continues to fail, proceed to the port as some operators like P&O and DFDS can collect API details during check-in.
