What are Corsica Linea option and deposit bookings?

AFerry offers option and deposit booking facilities on eligible Corsica Linea ferry crossings, subject to the sailing, fare conditions and payment terms available during booking.

An option booking temporarily holds a reservation, allowing the customer to pay in full or, where eligible, convert the booking into a deposit booking before the option expires.

A deposit booking allows eligible customers to secure their reservation by paying an initial deposit and settling the remaining balance in instalments before the applicable payment deadline.

These facilities are subject to specific conditions, including the departure date, selected fare type and any special fare restrictions.

How does it work?

  1. Visit the AFerry website and search for your preferred Corsica Linea ferry crossing.

  2. Select your sailing and enter your passenger, vehicle and accommodation details, where applicable.

  3. Check whether an option booking or deposit booking is available for your selected sailing and fare.

  4. If you choose an option booking, check its expiry date and time in your booking details.

  5. Before the option expires, either pay the full amount or convert the booking into a deposit booking if this facility is available for your reservation.

  6. If you choose a deposit booking, pay the required initial amount and check your confirmation for the outstanding balance and payment deadline.

  7. Make any additional payments and settle the remaining balance by the specified deadline to avoid cancellation.

Important: Option and deposit bookings are not available on every sailing or fare. Some special offers require immediate full payment.

What are the deposit payment terms?

For eligible Corsica Linea bookings, an interest-free instalment payment facility may be offered, depending on the conditions and dates of travel.

The general deposit payment conditions published by Corsica Linea are:

  • Minimum initial payment: 20% of the booking amount excluding taxes, payable immediately to secure the reservation.

  • Additional payments: Customers can make further instalment payments at their convenience, subject to the applicable booking terms.

  • Tunisia and Algeria routes: The outstanding balance must be paid no later than 45 days before departure.

  • Corsica routes: The outstanding balance must be paid no later than 60 days before departure.

  • Missed deadline: If the outstanding balance is not paid by the deadline, the reservation is automatically cancelled.

  • Special fares: Certain offers require immediate full payment and are not eligible for instalment payments.

The precise amount due and payment deadline applicable to an AFerry reservation should be confirmed during checkout and in the booking confirmation.

What is the option booking period?

For the Tunisia corridor, the option period depends on how far in advance the booking is made.

  • More than 50 days before departure: An option period of five days may be available.

  • Between 50 and 3 days before departure: The option period is one day, followed by the requirement to pay in full.

  • Less than 3 days before departure: A three-hour option period may be available, followed by the requirement to pay in full.

These periods are subject to the selected fare and any applicable restrictions.

For example, if a five-day option is created on 1 November at 14:30, its expiry would be 6 November at 14:30, provided that the five-day option applies to that booking.

An option booking must be paid in full or converted into an eligible deposit booking before the option expires. If the payment deadline is missed, the reservation is cancelled and the reserved spaces are released.

The refund treatment of an expired option should follow the applicable booking terms. Do not assume that an expired option automatically qualifies for a refund without checking those terms.

Which fares are eligible for deposit bookings?

Deposit booking eligibility depends on the applicable fare conditions.

Before selecting this payment method, customers should check whether their chosen fare permits a partial payment and subsequent instalments. Certain special fares require immediate full payment.

On the Tunisia corridor, special fare conditions may include:

  • Amitié fares: A 24-hour option may be available, followed by immediate full payment.

  • Escapade fares: A three-hour option may be available, followed by immediate full payment.

These special conditions take precedence over the standard option and deposit arrangements where applicable.

Customers should always follow the payment options and conditions displayed for their selected sailing.

What happens if the remaining balance is not paid?

If the outstanding balance is not settled by the applicable deadline, Corsica Linea automatically cancels the reservation.

The financial consequences depend on the selected fare:

  • Non-refundable fares: The initial partial payment is not refunded.

  • Refundable fares: A credit note may be issued in accordance with Corsica Linea's applicable terms and conditions of sale.

  • Credit note conditions: Validity, permitted use, refundability and any applicable fees depend on the relevant fare conditions.

For the Tunisia corridor, the applicable fare conditions may provide for a credit note valid for one year and usable for an equivalent destination. The credit note is non-refundable, and fees may apply, subject to the relevant fare terms.

The exact outcome should be confirmed against the fare conditions and the applicable terms of sale.

What are the cancellation and amendment rules?

Cancellation and amendment conditions depend on the fare purchased and the circumstances of the booking.

  • An option booking that expires without payment or conversion is cancelled, and the reserved spaces are released.

  • A deposit booking cancelled because the balance remains unpaid is subject to the applicable fare-specific financial conditions.

  • Non-refundable fares do not provide a refund of the initial partial payment.

  • Refundable fares may provide for a credit note instead of a cash refund.

  • Booking amendments are subject to fare conditions, availability, payment requirements and any applicable charges.

Customers should check the fare conditions before booking and contact AFerry Customer Support if they need assistance with a specific reservation.

How can I check my option expiry time or payment deadline?

Check your AFerry booking confirmation email or booking management account for the applicable booking status, expiry time, deposit payment and outstanding balance.

For an option booking, use the exact expiry date and time shown in your booking details rather than assuming that the option expires at the end of the calendar day.

For a deposit booking, check the outstanding balance and the payment deadline carefully. If instalments are permitted, make sure the full balance is paid by the required date.

If you need assistance, contact AFerry Customer Support with your booking reference.

Where can I find more information?

Please note: Option booking availability, expiry periods, deposit amounts, payment deadlines, eligible fares and cancellation consequences may vary according to the selected sailing and applicable fare conditions. Always check the terms displayed during checkout and in your booking confirmation before making a payment.
